Okay so I’ve seen this twice now, and IT WAS AWESOME. BOTH TIMES. And because I’ve seen it twice, I can remember quite a few details. This isn't a review, and to be honest you've probably read/thought something like this yourself, heh...
So:
BLACK WIDOW OMG OMG OMG. She was amaaaaaazing. Scarlett Johansson was brilliant. SO PLEASED that there is actually going to be a Black Widow film, I hope it’s awesome.
HULK. I was surprised with how much I loved Bruce Banner. I’ve not seen any of the recent Hulk films and I’m not particularly bothered about the character usually, but I thought Ruffalo played it really well. And SCIENCE BROS <3
Jeremy Renner’s arms, hello. I’ll be honest, Renner was about 10% of the reason I wanted to see the film. <3 I was pleased that he got more screentime but I don’t feel like there was much of Hawkeye’s character – I couldn’t describe him the way I could the others (though of course this wasn’t Hawkeye, so there was less focus on him that the others had in their own films). I loved Hawkeye and Black Widow together.
The rest of the characters were great (THOR <3), but I knew them already. Still, all the right things were present and correct.
I actually liked the plot. It ran along and mostly made sense (well, allowing for all the powers involved). I took my Dad the second time I went and he really enjoyed it too –I think the only related film he’d seen was Iron Man, but that didn’t stop him (and of course he recognised most of the characters). I liked the pacing – maybe it was a little bit slow until the Cap/IM/Thor fight, but on the other hand it really did start small and build. I thought the script actually dealt pretty well with the levels of powers, especially as with Thor/Loki/Hulk there was a danger of them cancelling each other out.
Overall, it was a really enjoyable, funny, smart, snappy film. If I had the money and time, I’d go again, but I think after twice I can probably wait for the DVD, lol.
