hestia8I probably won’t be doing the recaps while the series is on, mainly because I am away for the first one, and I am busy at work, and my skin is still being weird (and affecting my mood/concentration etc). I will get them done eventually, though (along with series 2 and 805). I will still do numbered reaction lists and ramble about things anyway, just not in recap format/length.
I am still a bit stunned this is series ten. TEN. WHAT.
So it turns out I am going to ramble about Spooks spoilers, hurrah! This was unexpected, because I was fairly meh on the whole thing until I watched that 2-minute clip from episode 1, and then BAM. Hello, usual obsession.

In no particular order:
1. TARIQ. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH YOUR HAIR?
2. I really, really hope that Beth’s absence is dealt with by Ruth saying ‘yeah, so apparently Monaco is more fun than hanging around here working for a living, who’d have thought?’ (NB or any other M where Alice from Luther may be). Or something along those lines. I hope she’s off somewhere being filthy rich and a bit socipathic.
3. I am looking forward to Erin quite a bit. Youngish, put into a job a bit out of her depth, probably a political appointment? HELL YES. I don’t expect they’ll handle it will, but I’m liking the sound of it. Also her family set up. With a mother and daughter, that’s two living people who give a crap about her, which is nice.
4. I am really not sure about the Dimitri plotline where he has to seduce someone (well, the spoiler was ‘a young woman’, and I suppose that might not be as creepy as it sounds), though a) well done Spooks for going down the male honey trap route again, and b) look, I am 100% aware that Dimitri/Tariq is mostly exptrapolation in my head and is NEVER going to come up onscreen, but I was enjoying the futile hope the break between series had given me, damn it. Also I am not entirely convinced that making Dimitri the main man is going to be a good idea, nor that Max Brown is up to it, considering some of series 9. We'll see.
5. Hang on, have I written fic where Dimitri has to sleep with someone for national security and Tariq is jealous? All of a sudden that seems familiar.
6. Speaking of which, they’ve got six episodes for someone in the main cast to be shown as not straight. I am not expecting much.
7. Oh, also, while I am here, TARIQ DOES NOT NEED A MENTOR, HE NEEDS DECENT WRITERS TO GIVE HIM SOMETHING TO DO THAT ISN'T ANSWERING THE PHONE (which btw happened IN THAT SODDING 2 MINUTE CLIP). Yes, I am expecting to dislike this character, so you can all point and laugh when it turns out I really like him or something.
8. Furthermore, I should point out I am in this series for a) the lols, b) the eye candy, c) Tariq and d) any crumbs of Tariq/Dimitri I can get.
9. I don’t really care about Ruth/Harry. I don’t care if they get a happy ending or not (I reserve the right to change my mind on this when it actually comes up onscreen). I am still pissed off that Harry GAVE NATIONAL SECRETS TO A TRAITOR and has somehow kept his job.
10. I still want the series to end on a cliffhanger like Harry or Ruth being in someone’s crosshairs, because I think that would be both fitting and hilarious (I know I am the only person who thinks this, trust me). Sadly I think the writers have said that the series won’t end on a cliffhanger. Boo.
