1. Lex Shrapnel. Best name ever.
2. Interesting that the first words in a BBC primetime drama weren’t in English.
3. That looks like half a set from Battlestar Galactica.
4. I love shady businessmen in TV and movies. Do you think shady businessmen try to emulate them irl?
5. Charming! Chivalry not dead, then (and tbh checking on someone who’s just been shot is less chivalry and more basic humanity)
6. Ahahahahaha, undone by fake blood.
7. Eddie from Hustle!
8. My dad is quite impressed with Sam
9. Oh my GOD, ep 1 and we’ve already got inappropriate feelings all over the place
10. Oh come ON, lady, you could have told him that then (I know, I know, if she did that there’d be no show)
11. HA. Excellent. She and Ros went to the same ‘how to make your kitchen work for you’ seminar, obviously.
12. Oh no!
13. Loft of crazy!
14. Basically, Sam Hunter is one committed lady.
15. Well this cottage is frankly just crying out for a zombie invasion. And I bet she’d be prepared for that too.
16. How to tell your spies are tough: they think beds are for wimps.
17. I hope the holding her breath underwater is plot-relevant in that she’s training to be a mermaid.
18. All this and DIY too? Sam Hunter > you, basically.
19. I like the music in this show.
20. Report to who, boss dude? You’re the boss. (I presume Byzantium is a multinational)
21. And he is clearly in the wrong industry if he doesn’t like chaos.
22. Hellloooooooooo shiny tech desk. I want one.
23. Ha, Lesley turned to me when this came onscreen and asked if I wanted one. I am predictable.
24. The agenda for being involved with this dam thing is presumably shitloads of money and influence.
25. OKAY YES you’ve all got shiny toys, I’m jealous.
26. I’m not doing very well at London locations so far but I did just about get Canada Water before the sign came up onscreen.
27. “What do you expect? I’m a spy.”
28. I don’t like Sam’s ex. He can gtfo.
29. Lady, you’re a spy. Trackers are a thing. That’s how someone else could have known where you were.
30. I need to look up all the cast, their familiarity is really bugging me.
31. DICK.
32. Oh, he can just fuck off with his creepiness
33. Why are remote control cars such fun?
34. Hahahaha, excellent set up.
35. The greater good! It’s been ages since I watched Hot Fuzz.
36. Sam. Seriously. Beds are your friend.
37. Well, that dude’s clearly not making it to the airport.
38. Yup, there we go.
39. Oh, Sam. You’re so screwed.
40. No1curr, dude.
41. This is evidently a painful business to be in.

So, overall I enjoyed this. Sam reminds me of Eden Sinclair from Doomsday (right down to losing her mother at a young age, though Eden does have an awesome fake eye camera thing so she’s still winning), who I love, so I’m quite happy with that so far.

Sam clearly needs a) friends and b) a hug, but she’s an interesting character to watch (so fricking tense!). Unfortunately she’s such a strong presence that the other characters are all pretty weak at the moment (although I have taken an instant dislike to the ex). Still, it is only episode 1 so it’s a bit much too expect everything to be in place straight away. Hopefully they’ll get a bit fleshed out as we go on.

I quite enjoyed the plot, silly as it is (and standard as it is - sometimes I think I really have watched far too much TV but honestly, what else am I going to do with my time?). It was more solid than I was expecting, and I'm interested to see where it'll go given that they don't have the for-the-national-good reasoning/constraint that Spooks/Bond etc are working with.
