...yeah. What can I say, I am predictable (also, they list DM as one of their influences so it's not all my fault)
So, Crishna and I went to see Hurts last night (as ever, booked by her - the only thing I've booked on my own initiative recently has been the excellent Andy Zaltaman - Satirist for Hire). We went up to the Troxy on Commercial Road, which was super easy to get to, thank you London Overground, I will miss you when I have moved.
The support act was the rather lovely Pawws (http://www.pawwsmusic.co.uk/), who was great. I really enjoyed her stuff and will be looking out for more of it in the future.

Hurts is Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson, and they've released two albums full of lovely sweeping electro-pop that owes a debt to the 80s (as does their aesthetic), which explains why I like them so much. If you don't know them, this is the song I tend to use as an introduction:
They had three other musicians on stage (I think), and both Crishna and I were impressed with how well the sound of the album translated live. Theo's voice was just as good live as on record, which is impressive, and he was very much the focal point, as Adam Anderson either sat at his keyboards or played the guitar (bit like Alan Fletcher).
This did mean that Theo had all the work of interacting/flirting with the audience and dancing about, which he did very well (no idea how he didn't keel over, as he did all this wearing first a jacket and then a long-sleeved top). I'd like to see him with a bigger space to faff about in (possibly because I was thinking about Dave Gahan at the time).
The songs were fantastic and made reconsider a couple that I didn't really like so much, and the albums will definitely be on heavier rotation on my mp3 player (also I would pay money to hear them do a DM cover). They saved Better Than Love for the encore (I had expected that), Wonderful Life sounded great, Silver Lining and Miracle were really good, and honestly I could just list everything because they didn't put a foot wrong all night. Except for not doing their Confide In Me cover. That was a shame.
Also special mention to the light show, because it was great - some really nice patterns, and sometimes the lights were so strong Theo basically became invisible (Crishna took photos but hasn't posted them yet).
